From the developer behind Lair of the Clockwork God and The Swindle, Earth Must Die is a foul-mouthed point-and click adventure in which the “Grand Shepherd” VValak Lizardtongue seeks revenge on Earth because the planet took over his kingdom. It sounds very silly and I like the art style. Apparently it’s voice-acted by “British comedy royalty,” which is neat.

The Legend of Heroes: Trails from Zero and Trails to Azure (Switch 2)

It’s a fantastic month for fans of the Trails series, with Switch 2 versions of the Crossbell duology releasing today. Experience the stories of Lloyd and the Special Support Section of the Crossbell Police Department “at 4K resolution using either original or upscale textures.” Apparently the newer consoles can support “up to 120 FPS” for these delightful turn-based JRPGs. 💖

Jupiter & Mars: Definitive Edition

Taking inspiration from acclaimed deck builders such as Balatro, Monster Train, Slay the Spire, and Inscryption, The Royal Writ hopes to join their ranks as another “King of the Cards.” With adorable animal cards/units, you’d better hope that your strategies pay off and keep them from being permanently destroyed in that run. These critters’ stories will be told whether they live or die in this roguelike with 2 different campaigns.

The latest game from the developer of horror game Paratropic, Roman Sands RE:Build combines the visual novel, puzzle, survival simulation, and horror genres to tell 2 disturbing stories that may or may not be related. 🤔 In the first story, try to escape the resort you work for in a world where the sun is about to “swallow” everything. In the other story, you’re one of the last humans alive. Working at a deteriorating zoological research facility, you must decide if protecting it is worth your life. 😱

Little Witch in the Woods

Now onto something a bit more cozy! In Little Witch in the Woods you’ll play as apprentice witch Ellie, who has left the land of witches to learn and grow. Fly around your new home to gather ingredients for potions, meet new creatures, and fill the pages of your Encyclopedia.

Befriend villagers – and more importantly, some cats! – to learn more about them. And for even more fun, craft new furniture to decorate your house. You can even customize your brooms to further enhance the view as you explore. This looks super cute, and checks a lot of boxes for things I enjoy in cozy simulation games.

Another Eden Begins

Another Eden Begins instantly caught my attention with a story about time travel, its graphics, and because it’s a turn-based JRPG. I checked out the demo and liked it a lot. You play as Aldo, a young man who was taken in by his village under mysterious circumstances (along with his sister) when they were very young.

Of course, now that they’re older they can’t continue to live in peace – that’s not how it works in JRPGs! 😂 Something happens in the village, and Aldo is sent through time to the future. And then the past. He’ll meet new friends and try to solve their problems by fighting in turn-based battles as he tries to find his way home. I liked the characters, the chain combos in battle, and also there are cats!

Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave

Only available on Switch 2, Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave has some relation to Fire Emblem: Three Houses. (I’m not getting into the prequel vs. sequel debate yet. Time travel is mentioned in the description. 😂) Telling the story of 4 major heroes, the game focuses on the “Heroic Games,” a competition which offers the winner the opportunity to make a wish. Explore the capital of the Dagdan Empire, recruit new allies, and train as hard as you can for the turn-based tactics battles ahead.

Tristia: Chronicles

KOGADO STUDIO seems to have a lot of their work making its way to the West. I recently reviewed OVER REQUIEMZ, their dark otome inspired by The Wizard of Oz. Now they’re releasing Tristia: Chronicles, a more lighthearted experience that that contains both Tristia of the Deep-Blue Sea: Legacy and Tristia: Restore. Legacy asks players to restore the city of Tristia, while Restore takes place at the same time but has the more focused task of running a shop.

Flamecraft

The developer of WINGSPAN and Quilts and Cats of Calico, Monster Couch has created some fun animal-themed board game-inspired experiences for Switch before. Now they’ve created a turn-based strategy game with adorable dragons. As a “Flamekeeper,” play artisan dragon cards to gather materials and help shopkeepers with their different crafts.

In either single player or multiplayer, manage your dragons and resources each turn to earn reputation points; the player with the highest reputation at the end wins the game. I tried out the demo, and the gameplay seems pretty complex. I loved the dragon designs, and the dragon and shop names are really cute. They did a great job with the music, and I was pleasantly surprised to discover that there is some voice acting. Just from playing the demo I can tell they put a lot of love into the game.
