Content warning: both games rated M; serious themes including – but not limited to – human trafficking, sexual assault, and murder.

In preparation for the sequel’s release on July 17th I recently played and reviewed the first Bustafellows. “Found family” is one of my absolute favorite tropes, and I loved the interactions between main character Teuta and the love interests. I’m eagerly awaiting season2, so being able to play the demo and enjoy more Bustafellows content while I wait made me really happy!
They don’t usually release demos for otome games (on Switch at least), so we’re lucky to get one for this game! A disclaimer indicates that the demo allows us to experience part of the prologue, but that “the progression of the story differs slightly from the full version, and some parts of the story are not present in this demo.” Due to these differences, we can’t transfer save data from the demo to the full version.
You get to choose which love interest’s “route” you want to play through in the demo, although I don’t think it makes much difference who you choose because the experience is almost exactly the same regardless of the love interest. There are a few minor differences and a brief scene or two with Teuta and that route’s love interest.

I chose to play through all of them, using the “jump to next choice” function to view any differences across routes. We get to see the current state of New Sieg’s political scene, some pop culture, and of course some fun interactions between Teuta and the guys.

It seems like this story takes place a year after the first one (based on some of the age gaps mentioned between characters). Teuta is still working as a freelance journalist and living with the guys, and it looks like the team may possibly have to confront both old and new foes as they continue to work “for justice, for the people, and for [their] own sakes.” 😎
