Orange Season 🍊

(Interestingly enough, oranges & other citrus fruits apparently do come into season around this time of year. What an apt release date!)

I’m always down for more farming sims with dating elements, so Orange Season interested me right away. Plant crops, take care of your animals – including tameable squirrels and turtles – and renovate the facilities on your farmland.

Befriend the residents of Orange Town and go on dates with romanceable characters, which include 5 women and 5 men. As per this post, same-sex couples are possible! Romantic relationships in Orange Season “focus on the early stages of relationships, so marriage and having kids [aren’t included features]”. However, the developer has considered it as an option in the future.

I think that sometimes games can end up rushing the romance, so a game where you can take it slow sounds rather refreshing.

Magical Bakery

• Price: $29.99 (on sale with preorder discount for $26.99 until November 7th)
• Developer: SUPERLUMEN
• Release Date: November 7, 2024

Magical Bakery, as its name would imply, is a single player game in which you run an enchanted bakery. Bake using your magic skills, unlock new skills and ingredients, and renovate your bakery. And in order to inherit the business someday, you’ll have to pass exams at the “Academy of Magical Bakers.”

I love baked goods and the fantasy genre, and it sounds like there’s a decent amount of customization in the game. You can design your character’s appearance in addition to the bakery upgrades. 🧁

Petit Island

• Price: digital version not listed yet, presumably $29.99 like physical version
• Developer: Xelo Games
• Release Date: November 12, 2024

Another game that allows you to customize your appearance, Petit Island is an adorable “open-world photo exploration” experience. As you move around the island, you’ll help your “grandpaw” remember his glory days by showing him the pictures you’ve taken of the people, animals, and places there.

Cute kitties and photography are up my alley cat, so this is another one that looks like a nice cozy game. Bonus points for the puns in their description! 🐾

Bonus Game: Albatroz

Albatroz has not been announced for Switch as of now, but I figured I’d mention it since it looks neat. Maybe we’ll get it on Switch someday – who knows? For now, it will come out on Steam, PS5, and Xbox Series XIS on November 1st.

Departing from the more cozy themes above, this is a survival game that requires you to manage your resources wisely as you enter the wilderness to find your lost brother. As you travel deeper into the Albatroz Mountains, you’ll encounter villagers with fascinating cultures, who also offer assistance for the trek ahead.
