I can’t believe it’s already March! I’ve gotten to play some great games so far this year, and games continue to make their way to the Switch console. These are some upcoming games for the month that I think look like a lot of fun:
Snufkin: Melody of Moominvalley

- Price: $19.99 USD
- Developer: Hyper Games
- Publisher: Raw Fury
- Release Date: March 7, 2024
I’ve heard of the Moomins series before; it’s a Finnish series about some trolls that resemble hippos a little bit. Snufkin is apparently Moomin’s best friend, and he often helps out when danger strikes. In Snufkin: Melody of Moominvalley, he takes center stage to drive out the parks that are disrupting nature in the valley. Solve musical and environmental puzzles, and meet more than 50 Moominvalley residents along the way. I don’t know that much about the series, but it sure looks cute!

Unicorn Overlord

- Price: $59.99 (digital & physical)
- Developer: Vanillaware
- Publisher: ATLUS
- Release Date: March 8, 2024

ATLUS and Vanillaware have collaborated once more to bring Unicorn Overlord to Switch (and other platforms). First of all, I love the title. And I’m always down for more fantasy tactics RPGs. I checked out the demo, and it’s got some interesting mechanics.
There are 3 difficulty levels. The battle system is not traditional, as your characters are grouped into units instead of having them fight individually. Combat occurs automatically, seemingly based on the type of enemies a group faces as well as other conditions.
You control squad composition and formations, and decide on your units’ movements and which enemies they attack. The game shows you forecasts of the damage each side will take, and after that the auto battles take over.
I really like the character animations and the English voice acting. The benefits for placing different classes in certain formations are pretty neat, and it’ll be fun to see how things play out when you accept or reject a character for your party. The Rapport system sounds similar to the supports in Fire Emblem games, and there are town (re)building elements in the game.

Death Trick: Double Blind

- Price: $15.99 (currently on sale for $14.39 until March 14th)
- Developer: Misty Mountain Studio
- Publisher: Neon Doctrine
- Release Date: March 14, 2024
I remember seeing Death Trick: Double Blind in an Indie World Showcase, so I was quick to download the demo from the eShop. The game is an investigative adventure experience in which you look into the mysterious disappearance of the star of a traveling circus in the mid-twentieth century. You’ll control two protagonists, who are both investigating the missing person for their own reasons. One of them is a colleague of the victim, while the other is a private detective with amnesia.

Each protagonist has access to different kinds of information; talk to everyone around them to gather information and find any contradictions that could help you find the truth. There are multiple endings, and with limited action points and turns, you must do your best to solve the mystery and bring the story to a good conclusion. Based on the demo, I like what I’ve seen of the art style, soundtrack, and writing style so far.

Dungeon Drafters

- Price: $24.99 (currently on sale for $19.99 until March 21st)
- Developer: Manalith Studios
- Publisher: DANGEN Entertainment
- Release Date: March 14, 2024
Dungeon Drafters is a mystery dungeon adventure game with roguelite deckbuilding elements. Play as one of six character classes and use their signature starter deck as a launching point to customize a whole new deck. Explore all six dungeons and adjust your deck strategy based on the monsters in each area. And in between dungeon runs, players can accept quests from NPCs, work on completing their card collection, or even just play go fish go fishing.

Monster Tribe

- Price: $19.99
- Developer: Boundless Games
- Publisher: Freedom Games
- Release Date: March 14, 2024
As “humanity’s last hope,” use your sage powers to summon Ateyan, magical creatures whose disappearance led to the destruction of human civilization. Bring them back and choose from 72 Ateyan to create a team capable of surviving turn-based battles against monsters as you explore the Island of Akama. Will you be able to discover the truth behind the decline of humanity, and can you ensure the survival of those who remain?

Rainbow Moon

- Price: $14.99 ($29.99 for the Rainbow Moon + Rainbow Skies Strategy RPG Bundle)
- Developer: SideQuest Studios
- Publisher: eastasiasoft
- Release Date: March 15, 2024
We reviewed Rainbow Skies back in August last year, which is apparently the indirect sequel to Rainbow Moon. Now it’s Rainbow Moon’s turn to arrive on Switch! Explore an isometric world with more than 20 dungeons and 40-100 hours of play time (depending on play style). Customize six playable main characters’ equipment and skillsets to maximize your chances of success in turn-based battles.

Attack of the Karens

- Price: $4.99
- Developer: Studio Primitive
- Publisher: Flynn’s Arcade
- Release Date: March 21, 2024
I cackled when I saw this game. Attack of the Karens sounds hilarious; it’s a roguelite shoot ‘em up game with the objective of “canceling” 4 Karen bosses. Defeat the mini-Karen minions to get to their “managers,” and if their haircuts are distracting enough for them to defeat you, don’t worry! You can purchase upgrades and become stronger after each run. Can you “save the world from entitlement”? 🤣

The Legend of Legacy HD Remastered

- Price: $49.99 (digital & physical)
- Developers: Cattle Call and FuRyu
- Publisher: NIS America
- Release Date: March 22, 2024
The Legend of Legacy was a 2015 RPG for the 3DS, and now it’s been revived for the Nintendo Switch in HD! Play through seven heroes’ individual storylines, experiment with their unique abilities, and forge contracts with elementals to really blast your enemies! This turn-based RPG will focus on adventure and exploration, and I can’t wait to discover the secrets of Avalon.

Sunny Café

- Price: $14.99
- Developer: GameNobility
- Publisher: eastasiasoft
- Release Date: March 27, 2024
I was intrigued by the idea of Sunny Café, a visual novel about a group of Taiwanese college students who gather in a local café. Players will learn more about the local culture, Taiwanese coffee, and the students. The choices you make lead to different endings – perhaps some characters will even espresso express their feelings for each other! ☕️

Touch Detective 3 + The Complete Case Files

- Price: $39.99 (digital), $49.99 (physical)
- Developer: Beeworks
- Publisher: Nicalis
- Release Date: March 28, 2024
Touch Detective 3 + The Complete Case Files contains Touch Detective 3 (3DS, 2014), which has never been localized in English until now. The collection also includes the original Touch Detective (DS, 2006) as well as Touch Detective 2 1/2 (DS, 2007). Touch Detective is a popular point-and-click mystery adventure series, and this improved localization is accompanied by more hints for players! Additionally, more than 500 digital materials await fans – investigate its concept art, comic strips, and more!

That’s it for our March highlights – which ones look the most appealing to you? Be sure to try out the demos!
