Rated M for “Blood and Gore, Violence.”
We’ve previously written about Nintendo Switch games from Brazil, and now developer oiCabie has brought their latest game to the console. Bem Feito (“well done” or “serves you right” depending on context) is a simulation game with horror elements that has you play an in-game emulator using a special operating system.

When you start the game on your Switch, you’ll see some icons on the “computer” screen. You can check out the manuals for the (in-game) operating system and for the game you emulate on the platform. There’s a mail app, and a profile app that appears to unlock passwords for encrypted files in the documents app when you make progress in the emulator.
I really like the way they use the computer – and the oldfangled dial-up Internet – as a vehicle to deliver this experience. The controls are a bit wonky though, with A used to cancel and B to confirm. It’s the opposite when you play the ROM.

Bem Feito is said to be a game published on the “Jogaroto,” a (fictional) console said to be from the ‘90s that no one can remember. Someone found the ROM for the game though, and now you get to play it on this “computer.” They give you a brief tutorial showing you where everything is on your character’s property, and then you can get started.

Every day you’ll get a short list of chores to complete; it seems like you can pick and choose which ones you actually do before going to bed. This appears to affect the ending. I did not like the way that all of the tasks listed last would blur (this also occurs on the letters you get in the mail). It’s visually off-putting. Anyways, the chores are often just the standard housework people do, such as sweeping or taking the trash out. Your character is lonely in their isolated house, but soon he’ll get some visitors…

The fate of each visitor is yours to decide; they’re an interesting bunch, ranging from a sentient nose to a floppy disk – and more. I liked the character designs because they were quirky, and I do tend to like retro-style graphics like this. Certain tasks may result in unfortunate endings for someone if you choose to complete them. As a result, the game is somewhat “creepy-cute.”
For a game rated M though, I was a bit perplexed by what I felt was a lack of real gore or horror elements. I didn’t find anything particularly frightening or even disturbing. I liked certain elements of the game, but it’s described as a life sim, so fans of “cozy” games like that may take issue with its minimal tasks across its shorter playtime.
