We’ve compiled another list of crowdfunding campaigns (mostly through Kickstarter) for games with possible Nintendo Switch ports. Let’s check them out!
Toasty: Ashes of Dusk

Have you ever played a game where you controlled a marshmallow-themed character? I know I haven’t, and I am really liking what I’m seeing from Toasty: Ashes of Dusk so far. You’ll play as Marshall the Marshmallow Knight in this action/adventure RPG inspired by Link’s Awakening and Majora’s Mask as well as Final Fantasy VII and Pokémon. Use a variety of morbidly amusing marshmallow abilities, squishing Marshall to make him fit in small spaces, or light him on fire to solve a puzzle. 😱 🔥

Use a sword in combat and then use special items (pictured above) to help you solve more puzzles and explore. Although the game is an action game at heart, there will be certain points in the game where gameplay will temporarily shift to the turn based RPG genre, or the bike racing genre, and more! This game looks so cute and fun and unique, and they even offer physical rewards like a Marshall plush or keychain!

Toasty: Ashes of Dusk has exceeded its initial funding goal of $25,000 USD – currently sitting at over $55,000 – but it still has another $10,000+ of stretch goals. The campaign ends in 27 days on April 28, 2022, so be sure to help them out by sharing and supporting them! Estimated delivery is set for September 2023.
Critter Crops: Mystery of Mullery Mansion

I’ve seen Critter Crops around on social media for a while, and was eagerly waiting for the Kickstarter to start so I could add it to an article because it is adorable! The game is described as a spooky isometric farming/adventure game in which you grow the titular Critter Crops on a magical island. Your character, Sylvie, possesses magical abilities for you to use to explore and restore the vacant island, as well as to grow your Critter Crops. These critters will also have their own skills to help with solving puzzles and unlocking new areas on the island. You’ll need to be sure to protect your critters from the frightening “Weeaters,” creatures who very much enjoy eating them.

Besides growing those critters, you’ll also have to restore the currently rundown island by hiring a construction company. You can add new residents to the island, and get to know them and help them through the island’s social media platform! Crafting will be another important aspect of the game, and you can craft magical items to help you as you travel around the island, or you can give them to the residents! And speaking of magical items, check out the absolutely “enchanting” physical rewards for this campaign: there’s a Pumpkitty plush and pin, as well as stickers! This game sure looks like the “cream of the crop” to me, so be sure to take a look!

Critter Crops has obtained approximately $15,000 of its initial funding goal of $25,000 USD, but it still requires around $20,000 for its Switch porting goal. The campaign ends in 26 days on April 27, 2022, so there’s still time to help the “Critter Crops” grow! The game is projected for an October 2023 release.
I Just Want To Be Single!!

I Just Want To Be Single!! is yet another unique offering on Kickstarter. It’s an “anti-dating” simulation game where your goal is to make friends instead of finding a girlfriend. You’ll play as shy Aya, an aromantic and non-binary protagonist. (Pronouns are she/they.) Starting at a new school, everyone in their new class will fall in love with Aya due to a cute new haircut. You’ll have to carefully interact with Aya’s classmates in order to only make friends with them – you can’t be too likable, but you need to be somewhat likable at the same time.

An interesting twist to the dating sim genre, I Just Want To Be Single!! has you choose your own words for dialogue, and it will be extremely important to choose those words wisely. You will need to remember what people say, and they won’t be too happy if you forget their name as well! There are timed choices in situations with impatient characters, and you’ll need to choose how you say things as well. Partial voice acting will be included, as well as a variety of accessibility options. Physical rewards include lovely acrylic charms, stickers, posters, art books, and more.

I Just Want To Be Single!! has exceeded its initial funding goal of $25,000 USD (currently at $43,000) but it still requires around $40,000 for its Switch porting goal. The campaign ends in 13 days on April 14, 2022, so take a look if you like the look of it! Estimated delivery for the game is June 2023.
Playhead

Playhead is a puzzle platformer game that is set inside of an online media player. You’ll control Scrub, a bot who has to find and fix glitched videos on the site. Use media bar mechanics to manipulate time to help you solve different puzzles and fix those videos! Accessibility options will also be included.

You’ll be able to change the display to full screen mode, and checking the comment section on a video can give you an idea of what glitch(es) are “bugging” 😉 the video and its viewers. Skip puzzles you have trouble with and try again later; you’ll be able to add bookmarks to the timeline. The Kickstarter campaign offers a special USB edition as well as T-shirts. If this interests you, go ahead and check out Playhead!

Playhead has obtained nearly $2,500 USD out of its initial ~$8,000 goal, and it also still requires around $18,000 for its Switch porting goal. The campaign ends in 19 days on April 20, 2022. The game’s release is estimated for December 2022.
Afterimage

Afterimage is a 2D side-scrolling ARPG Metroidvania game in which you play as Renee, a young woman with amnesia who needs to recover her memory after a catastrophic flood. Explore fifteen different areas across the game’s semi-open world, and choose from a variety of weapons and different abilities to customize your play style! The game seems to focus on the player’s choice – it says that it’s somewhat of a “choose your own adventure” game with multiple endings. Backtracking through previously explored areas will allow you to discover new areas and secrets! One of the stretch goals is for New Game+, so I certainly hope they make it, because that’s one of my favorite features in a game!

Afterimage has reached ~$42,000 USD, exceeding its initial funding goal of ~$15,000 USD. The campaign ends in 21 days on April 22, 2022, and the estimated release is in November 2022.
Nine Sols

The Nine Sols campaign is not directly on the Kickstarter website apparently, but it’s still crowdfunding for their game, so I’m including it. Inspired by Sekiro, Hollow Knight, and Katana Zero, the game is a 2D action platformer that takes place in a “Taopunk” setting. Travel across a land where an ancient alien race once lived, and start a quest for revenge against the rulers of the land: the titular 9 Sols. As you meet new characters on your quest, you’ll also discover the lore of the land.

The Asian influences in the game look really cool, and they include jade as an equippable item for passive abilities. And speaking of items, the campaign includes additional rewards such as an action figure of Yi, the game’s main character. I love figures and plushies, so when they include those items with games it makes me pretty happy.

Nine Sols has obtained around $200,000 USD – 193% of its initial goal. The campaign ends on May 8, 2022, and they estimate a delivery date of Q2 2023.
I have this posted elsewhere on the site, but if you are clicking directly on the article you may not see that I have indicated that I have no affiliation with any games or their developers/publishers unless otherwise stated. (Other than being a fan, follower, and supporter.) I make zero money for saying or posting anything here. I figured I should reiterate this given my gushing over these games. 😂 Please do check them out and support them if you like what you see though!
