We’ve had some really great games come out recently, such as Rune Factory 5 and Kraken Academy. In the weeks ahead, I’m excited to see the following games release on Nintendo Switch.

Vengeful Heart

The aptly named Vengeful Heart is a visual novel where humanity has completely polluted the planet, and the wealthy continue to profit from the work of the poor. The main character, Josephine Lace, hopes to climb the social ladder through her work as a hydraulic engineer. However, something happens to her that results in her almost dying – as well as losing a place to live. Naturally, Josephine is not pleased with this turn of events, and wants revenge. Meeting a variety of people who sympathize with her plight, she’ll attempt to take down the societal system that has wronged her. I like the art style in the screenshots I’ve seen, and I’m always down for more visual novel goodness. So I’m looking forward to seeing what happens when Vengeful Heart comes out tomorrow!

Glitchhikers: The Spaces Between

• Price: $12.99 USD (currently on sale for $11.69 until April 7th)

Glitchhikers: The Spaces Between explores the introspection involved in the long, quiet journeys in life. It seems to be a philosophical exploration of the meaning of life (42? 😂) as you travel to different destinations with an interesting cast of characters. Apparently, it’s “set to a weird soundtrack,” and I really enjoy listening to music in games. I also appreciate quirkiness. Will you be making “space” for this game on your Switch? 😉 🤔

tERRORbane

tERRORbane sounds like a really unique and creative game to me. It’s described as a “comedic adventure where bugs are your friends.” The “Developer” will provide commentary on everything you do in the game, where different bugs and glitches appear left and right. As you explore this quirky and bizarre world, you will find those bugs and use loopholes to your advantage. There are apparently different storylines for you to explore – making different choices at certain points will result in meeting different characters and exploring their stories. tERRORbane aims to pay tribute to the history of video games, and that sounds like a fun time to me.

Chinatown Detective Agency

• Publisher: Humble Games
• Price: $24.99 USD

Play as a private investigator in Chinatown in the year 2037. In a world where the global economy has collapsed, you, as Amira Darma, must take on cases and use your resources wisely to avoid going broke. With a “home base” in Singapore, you will travel around the world to find clues, such as an airport code or a specific quote. I’m intrigued by the international settings and the future that the game is set in. I wonder what Amira will investigate. 🤔 🔎

CHRONO CROSS: THE RADICAL DREAMERS EDITION

It’s apparently been over two decades since the original release of Chrono Cross. I’m ashamed to say that I have not played the game before (although I have played Chrono Trigger, thankfully). I can’t wait to play this remaster, which has upgraded graphics (HD), new illustrations, and additional quality of life features. It also includes the game that served as the basis for Chrono Cross, entitled RADICAL DREAMERS – Le Trésor Interdit.

13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim

I had seen a decent amount of advertising for this game when it released on PS4 a few years ago. 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim involves time travel, which is one of my absolute favorite topics in fiction. You will explore the stories behind 13 different characters (hence the title), and you’ll also get to pilot mechs to defeat kaiju. I was so sad that this wasn’t on Switch, and now it’s actual happening! 🎉

Cat Café Manager

I absolutely adore cats. My family has 4 adorable kitties in our household, and we love them so much. I also love dogs, but cats are so funny and weird and cute. I also happen to enjoy simulation games, so Cat Café Manager is right up my alley (cat? 😂). Meownage Manage a cat café, renovating and decorating it to attract cats and humans! You’ll also hire employees and customize your menu to suit the customers that you get to know. Explore the town, interact with its citizens, and purrhaps perhaps even discover the secrets behind the cat shrine in the forest. 😮 🐈
