River Tails: Stronger Together

When I saw the footage of River Tails: Stronger Together, I was sold pretty quickly. I’m a major cat purrson person, and I’ve always loved watching fish swim around. I have fond memories of playing Freddi Fish as a child. River Tails is a 3D platformer action/adventure game with an emphasis on its co-op system. Two unlikely allies, a cat named Furple and a fish named Finn, team up together and travel across a variety of different environments. End river, cave, mountain, and swamp levels with some difficult boss fights. Come for the ridiculously cute art and stay for said art, but also the gameplay!
River Tails: Stronger Together has officially launched! They’re already at about $1,200 USD out of their ~$14,000 goal! The campaign ends on December 19, 2021. The estimated timeline for release is around March 2023.
Codename: Mystery Babylon

Codename: Mystery Babylon bills itself as a 16-bit medieval RPG with grid-based combat. Inspirations for the game include Suikoden II as well as Shining Force. You’ll be able to manage your guild’s home base, engage in duels, and change the course of your relationships with your actions. And speaking of relationships, you’d better hope that you are more than an adequate commander of your troops, as “there’s no return from death.” I usually play games in modes without permanent deaths, so I’ll have to be more careful here! 😅 I’m intrigued by this mystery so far, and hope it does well.
Codename: Mystery Babylon currently requires 91% of its funding goal, sitting at 9% of its $20,000 goal. There are 3 days to go, and they’ll need your help to get there!
The Girl From Arkanya

Alright, so technically the Kickstarter for The Girl From Arkanya has already ended as of about a year ago. I’m not going to lie, though – I’ve seen so much content with previews of the game posted on the game’s Twitter page, and I’m in love with this concept. The game is a 2D top-down action RPG where you play as Marisa, a treasure hunter with an adorable capybara named Kapi who accompanies you through the jungles of Amazonia. You’re able to switch between characters to solve puzzles, or alternatively, you can engage in co-op gameplay with friends!
While I plan on mainly posting active Kickstarter campaigns in these posts, that doesn’t mean that the completed Kickstarters don’t still deserve our continued attention, and I like the look of this project a lot personally. They’ve got a post-Kickstarter Backer Kit page where you can further support The Girl From Arkanya and the people working on it. There are options for digital or physical copies of the game or artbook, the soundtrack, a body pillowcase, or even some acrylic stands! I love additional merchandise on top of games, and capybaras are adorable, so yeah.

Ova Magica

Another completed KS campaign I’ve been keeping an eye on is Ova Magica. It’s a farming game the developer has described as Stardew Valley and Pokémon elements mixed together. Breed cute little blob creatures together to assist you on your farm! I’m vaguely reminded of the adorable Chao Gardens from Sonic! 🦔 The colors in the screenshots and clips I’ve seen are so vibrant, and I adore farming games.

Ova Magica also has a Backer Kit, and yet again I’m so pleased with the merchandise being offered here. All of it looks ridiculously cute, and I’d buy it all if I had the funds. If you like the looks of this as well, maybe check it out?
I have this posted elsewhere on the site, but if you are clicking directly on the article you may not see that I have indicated that I have no affiliation with any games or their developers/publishers unless otherwise stated. (Other than being a fan, follower, and supporter.) I make zero money for saying or posting anything here. I figured I should reiterate this given my gushing over these games. 😂 Please do check them out and support them if you like what you see though!
