Fate/Samurai Remnant has kept me busy over the past few months with reviews of DLC Episodes 1 and 2. Now the third and final episode is available, and I’ll be taking a look at how it stacks up against the previous installments. Based on its description, it certainly sounds exciting!

…is an excellent movie 😉

The first episode involved a tournament, and the second asked players to investigate a series of murders. Now Iori and Saber must discover the truth behind some recent child abductions. To play the third episode, you need to talk to the boss character in “Seek the Heroes That Survive” (Chapter 3).

As you investigate the disappearances, you will of course run into more monsters, who stand in the way of your current objectives. Controlling Iori and Saber in action combat is the same as usual, but once again you get to control some of the other Master/Servant pairs as well as a few Rogue Servants.

I believe I counted 4 controllable Servants besides Saber in this DLC episode; this includes 2 new ones. In my opinion, the new Servants seemed easier to use than most of the others, so I really enjoyed using them. I loved the first new Servant’s weapon type, and his Noble Phantasm was pretty darn cool. The enemy designs stood out to me as well.

Over the course of an hour and a half or so, you get to team up with other Master/Servant teams to try and defeat a major threat that also happens to be disrupting the Waxing Moon Ritual. You may even find some unlikely allies choosing to fight with you instead of against you…for now.

I really liked the temporary ceasefire between some of the ritual participants; it made things interesting. After completing the Record Fragment portion of the DLC, it’s time to resume hostilities. But first you can play a new Digression to unlock the second new Servant.

The collection of 3 DLC episodes adds 5 new Servants to the roster for you to use in the main game, if you’d like. You also get (relatively short) new side story content. Your enjoyment of the full DLC Season Pass will depend on your preferences when it comes to story versus gameplay. If you’re a big fan of the Fate series and like more variety in battle, you’ll probably want to check out the whole thing.
